Mnema is a journaling app. You talk with an AI companion about your day, and it writes an awareness diary for you. This page explains exactly what data leaves your phone, where it goes, and how to get rid of it.
Your diary entries and your personal profile are stored on your iPhone. We keep no copy of them on our servers.
If you are signed in to iCloud, they also sync to your own iCloud private database, so your entries survive a new phone. That storage belongs to your Apple ID — we have no access to it and cannot read it. You can turn this sync off in iOS Settings → Apple ID → iCloud.
To reply to you and to write your diary, your conversation is sent to our server and on to OpenAI. There is no way around this — that is where the AI runs.
We hold that conversation in temporary storage for up to two hours, so you can leave and pick the session back up. After that it is deleted automatically. The finished diary is sent back to your phone; we do not store it.

Sign in with Apple and Hide My Email. If you choose to hide your email, Apple gives us a relay address instead of your real one. We treat it as a normal email address and never receive your actual one.

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use it to train any model of our own.
Please delete your account from inside the app. That is the only route that can also clear the copies held in your own iCloud — deleting the app alone leaves them there, and they will come back if you reinstall.
Server data is kept until you delete it. When you delete your account we remove your records from our database and clear any in-progress conversation from temporary storage straight away. We do not retain deleted accounts.
Mnema is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Mnema is a journaling companion, not therapy and not a medical device. It does not diagnose or treat any condition. If you are in crisis, please contact your local emergency services.
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect, we will update the date at the top and tell you in the app before the change takes effect.
